"Geology's Lesson for Humanity: Be Humble, Be Careful"

Please join us at the New Haven Lawn Club on February 13th, 2025 at 12PM for lunch and Professor of Earth & Planetary Sciences David Evans’ talk: “Geology's Lesson for Humanity: Be Humble, Be Careful.”

A three-course plated luncheon will be served. Free parking is available at the New Haven Lawn Club, which is handicap and ADA Accessible, and on the Yale Shuttle and CT Transit bus lines.

David A.D. Evans, a professor in the Department of Earth & Planetary Sciences at Yale University, is an expert in plate tectonics and the history of Earth's continents. As director of the Yale Paleomagnetism Laboratory, he studies fossil magnetism in ancient rocks to reconstruct the movements of vanished supercontinents like Pangea, Rodinia, and Nuna, while also exploring Earth’s ancient magnetic fields and the "Snowball Earth" ice ages. Professor Evans earned his Ph.D. from the California Institute of Technology and joined Yale’s faculty in 2002, where he enjoys teaching undergraduates about geology, climate, and natural resources.
