Since 2020, the Yale and Slavery Research Project has been exploring and documenting Yale's complex past that includes direct and indirect ties to slavery.
Join Yale Club alumni and friends for an exclusive free introductory talk and tour of the new exhibit "Shining Light on Truth: Yale, New Haven and Slavery” at the New Haven Museum, on view now through summer 2024.
We start with a special Introductory talk and overview in the Museum Ballroom presented by Michael Morand of the Beinecke Library and New Haven Museum staff. Learn about the HBCU that didn't start in New Haven in 1831. Discuss how Yale is reckoning with its racial past and about the University's forward-looking commitments and actions.
Then View the Special Exhibit Galleries with historical details, documents, and photographs of 300+ year history of slavery and African American achievement at Yale and in New Haven.
All Yale Alumni, family, guests and children are welcome. Suggested for ages 10 and up, given the subject matter.
